1. What is this product and what are its uses?

Therapeutic group:

Decoil contains cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). Vitamin D3 can be found in some foods and is also produced in the body when the skin is exposed to sunlight. Vitamin D3 helps the kidneys and intestines absorb calcium and helps build bones.

Therapeutic indications:

Desiol is used in:

  • Preventing vitamin D deficiency when there is a high probability of deficiency or increased demand for vitamin D
  • Along with other medications to treat certain bone diseases, such as osteoporosis.

2. What should you know before using this product?

A. Do not take Decoil if

  • You were allergic to vitamin D3 or to any of the other ingredients in this medicine.
  • You had high levels of calcium in your blood (hypercalcemia) or urine (hypercalciuria).
  • You had kidney stones (urinary stones)
  • You had high levels of vitamin D3 in your blood (hypervitaminosis D).
  • You had pseudohypoparathyroidism (a disorder of parathyroid hormone metabolism).
  • I was pregnant, for high doses of Decoil 50,000 IU soft gelatin capsules.
  • I was under 18 years of age for the high doses of Decoil 50,000 IU soft gelatin capsules.

B. Precautions when using Desol

  • Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Decoil:
  • If you are undergoing treatment with certain medications used to treat heart disorders (for example, cardiac glycosides, such as digoxin)

3. How should this product be used?

Use in children

The use of Desol capsules is not recommended in children under 12 years of age for any concentration except for Desol 50,000, which is not suitable for those under 18 years of age.

a. If you take more Desol than you should

  • If you or your child takes more medicine than prescribed, stop using this medicine and contact your doctor. If you cannot speak to a doctor, you should go to the nearest hospital emergency department and take the medicine container with you.
